Position Title:

External Description:

Develops and maintains an environment which supports service excellence behaviors.

Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and/or employees by being aware of the safety and health policies of the hospital and adhering to and enhancing these policies via the identification reporting/correcting of unsafe conditions.

Complies with established department/hospital policies, rules and regulations.

Performs as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team under the supervision of a Charge Nurse.

Carries out assigned tasks and duties required to assist in the organization and management of a safe and therapeutic milieu and performs nursing skills encompassing patient care and relative tasks under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Demonstrates the competencies needed to care for the psychiatric patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school graduate. Actively enrolled in a college program for psychiatric or health-related field preferred.

Licensure/Registration/Certification: None

Work Experience: One (1) year prior experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. Preferred past experience as a nurse’s aide.

 

Physical & Other Factors: On feet most of the day. Requires vigilance in monitoring patients’ physical and psychiatric condition. Must be able to maintain a supportive role and/or assist with de-escalation and/or crisis intervention. Frequent lifting, stretching and other physical exertion during positioning of patients and moving equipment.
