Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.


Summary:

The Director will be a visionary leader capable of providing the leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives that further the mission for research at Nuvance Health.The Director will work with Rudy Ruggles Biomedical Research Institute (RRBRI) physician-scientists, Nuvance Health leadership and clinicians to champion translational research opportunities throughout the health network and with external partners with the goal of developing programs to improve patient outcomes, enhance provider resources, and promote the business of healthcare. The Director will be responsible for the overall operation, administration, growth, and financial health of the RRBRI.

Responsibilities:

1.Provides operational, managerial, financial, and regulatory oversight for the RRBRI.

2.Leads efforts to generate funding from various sources including government and private grants, internal (Nuvance Health) operational funding, corporate partnerships and philanthropic gifts.

3.Leads external outreach efforts to promote translational research collaborations and productive research partnerships with academia, government organizations, and life science, biopharmaceutical and biomedical device companies.

4.Facilitates and fosters commercialization of Nuvance Health network intellectual assets.

5.Engages the Nuvance Health Marketing department in raising the visibility of the RRBRI through electronic and print resources and outreach to relevant media outlets. Serves as RRBRI spokesperson.

6.Work swith Nuvance Health leadership to develop a Charter for the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and help identify and recruit both internal and external subject matter experts as members.

7.Develops and monitors measurable goals and objectives for the RRBRI. Provides quarterly updates on progress towards meeting goals and objectives. Authors an annual report that reviews prior year performance and establishes new metrics for the upcoming year.

8.Regularly engages Nuvance Health physicians and other healthcare professionals in forums that encourage interaction(s) in established and new RRBRI programs and initiatives.

9.Meets regularly with leadership to assess RRBRI priorities, performance, and allocation of resources.

10. Models and maintains Nuvance Health Values.

11. Performs other duties as requested.

 

Other information:

Essential: Master's Level Degree. Minimum of five years supervisory experience in a biomedical laboratory. 3 to 5 years of managerial/leadership experience.

Desired: PhD or MD preferred.

Strong understanding of basic science/translational research.

Strong operational experience and business acumen – MBA or MPH preferred.

Experience leading a research lab and/or start-up research organization
