External Description:

Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

Summary:
Designs and implements research studies. Leads and trains research associates and house staff in research projects. Collaborates with other research groups, and applies for research and other sources of funding.

Responsibilities:

1. Conducts active original research in collaboration with the Director, Clinical Outcomes and Health Services Research.
2. Designs and implements clinical and health services research. Promotes current research, develops novel and reinforced current standard operating procedures. Develops new research ideas.

3. Trains and oversees research associates, research scholars, research assistants and house staff (fellows, residents, medical students). Teaches research skills to others.

4. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Director, Clinical Outcomes and Health Services Research.

5. Applies for new funding opportunities and new investigator awards in collaboration with the Director, Clinical Outcomes and Health Services Research.

6. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment.

7. Attends and gives seminars and presents research findings. Serves on Internal committees as appropriate.

8. Establishes new approaches to creatively inspire and implement original research studies.

9. Assists in furthering the goals of the department.

10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
Required: Masters Degree with minimum 10 years research experience, or Ph.D. with with minimum 8 years research experience. Able to lead a team of scientists and collaborate with other research groups. Conceptualize novel ideas and apply for funding for research grants. Background in research methods, epidemiology, biostatitistics, and public health is required.
