Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.


Summary:
The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for general housekeeping activities. Follows proper protocols in designated patient rooms, rest-rooms, laboratories, offices, hallways, reception areas and other areas in the Hospital.

 

Responsibilities:
1. Trash Removal Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to gather and tie bags following the proper protocol for Regulated, Medical Waste and General Waste. Trash Removal Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to disinfect trash receptacles. Trash Removal Criteria C: Demonstrates the ability to reline trash receptacles with the appropriate liners.
2. Dusting Criteria A: Maintains ceiling and wall vents free of dust (high dusting). Dusting Criteria B: Maintains horizontal surfaces free of dust.

3. Disinfecting Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to wipe down all surfaces with the approved germicidal solution. Disinfecting Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to change disinfectant solution following the proper procedures.

4. Bathroom Cleaning Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to clean and disinfect all rest-room fixtures with proper germicidal solution. Bathroom Cleaning Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to stock all rest-room dispensers with the approved products. Bathroom Cleaning Criteria C: Demonstrates the ability to wet mop floors with the approved floor care detergent and following all departmental safety standards.

5. Dry Mopping / Vacuuming Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to move furniture and other objects to effectively clean floors. Dry Mopping / Vacuuming Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to mop (vacuum), gather and dispose of all dust and debris from the floors.

6. Damp Mopping Criteria A: Demonstrates the ability to damp mop the floors with the approved floor care detergent and following all departmental safety standards. Damp Mopping Criteria B: Demonstrates the ability to change detergent solution every three rooms or as needed.

7. Inspect Work Criteria A: Monitors rooms to assure that all work has been performed adequately and correct deficiencies as needed. Inspect Work Criteria B: Complies with discharge cleaning procedures to assure that the patient's room is ready for admission.

8. Kronos/ TeleTracking Systems Compliance Criteria A: Uses Kronos System to properly record time worked. Kronos/ TeleTracking Systems Compliance Criteria B: Uses TeleTracking System to properly record patient's rooms cleaning (discharges) Kronos/ TeleTracking Systems Compliance Criteria C: Complies with patient's rooms cleaning Average Response time, which should not exceed 45 minutes Kronos/ TeleTracking Systems Compliance Criteria D: Uses Paging System properly and timely responds all calls

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Other information:
Required: High school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language is essential. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to bend, stretch, carry, push and pull heavy objects.
