Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.
Title: Chart Analyst Surgical Services/IT Liaison
Reports To: ACNO Surgical Services
Department: Surgical Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Purpose: Manages review of charges through charge/chart audit and review to assure accuracy and completion of charge entry and appropriate clinical documentation with end users. Serves as a data liaison to the surgical services department.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Reviews previous day cases to validate and verify charges.
2. Ensure free texted items are assigned and charged appropriately. Understands the proper use of HCPS codes and the implication of chargeable and non-chargeable classifications.
3. Works with materials coordinators, buyers and nursing management to assure the completion and accuracy of implant documentation and costly supply charge entry, allowing for a timely bill drop.
4. Collaborates with OR management, materials coordinators, buyers and the finance department to assure charges for new products are in the CDM.
5. Creates and uses the appropriate Discern Analytic reports to validate free-text and other items as indicated.
6. Follows process for clear identification for explanted items and validates documentation is present within the EMR.
7. Collaborates with Revenue Analyst to ensure compliance with all audits and charge master information.
8. Runs Discern Analytic reports as requested.
9. Assists, communicates and collaborates with IT with any issues surrounding the charge data base.
10. Performs in-depth analysis of large data sets and provides reports for presentations.
11. Develops and automates analytic tools and output to inform and provide strategic insight. Supports leadership team to manage quality and patient and patient safety performance through audits.
12. Collaborates with IT and users to ensure data integrity and build trust in presented reports.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a medical environment.
• PREFER: One (1) year experience using Cerna or Surginet.
• PREFER: One (1) year report builder discern Analytics Supply experience.
• PREFER: One (1) year chain purchasing, coding and billing experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Demonstrates Data Analytics.
• Knowledge of Surgical Terminology.
