Summary:
Provides administrative and clerical support to the manager and staff of Ambulatory IV Services (AIS).
Responsibilities:
1. Performs patient registration duties for AIS, as well as, 8 East Outpatient Dept. Updates cycle registration information monthly within designated time frame.
2. Enters patient billing information and charges into the Invision system. Selects & enters diagnosis codes as directed by the RN. Follows billing guidelines. Collects payment for services as needed.
3. Handles large volume of incoming calls while providing reception to customers. Records complete messages & forwards them to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Notifies nurses when patients arrive. Assists patients in need of physical assistance.
4. Obtains demographics and labs on new patients. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
5. Maintains office and medical supplies inventory, as well as, patient's charts. Replenishes stock as needed to ensure efficiency of operations.
6. Enters orders for lab tests into Invision. Schedules patient tests and procedures.
7. Professionally formats and types correspondence letters. Assists in the creation of new medical forms, reports, worksheets, etc.
8. Oversees and distributes daily interoffice mail. Processes bills for AIS purchases.
9. Maintains and processes Kronos data for staff.
10. Responsible for training and orienting new secretarial & volunteer staff, as well as coordinating their activities in the department.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Required:
- HS Graduate or Equivalent
Minimum Experience:
- five years
Desired:
Knowledge of insurance and ICD-9 coding, medical terminology, excellent customer service skills, good phone skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
