Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations.

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Operations Manager or Supervisor, and under the direct supervision of a licensed registered pharmacist, assists in the procurement and preparation of medication for dispensing, and maintains all records in accordance with Federal and State laws and Nuvance Health policies and procedures. Participates in all pharmacy activities and works to achieve the goals of the institution and department. Job duties and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience, performance, and years of education in an accredited school of pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

• Operates pharmacy dispensing technology 
• Assists pharmacist in the gathering and preparing medications while adhering to policies related to unit dose packaging, regulations and proper record keeping
• Prepares extemporaneous compounds 
• Prepares all IV admixtures 
• Performs required daily and monthly cleaning tasks 
• Performs hazardous medication preparation
• Performing technical and clerical functions associated with the ordering, receiving, packaging, and distribution of medication inventory (including controlled substances)
• Identifies and navigates potential drug shortages
• Accurately fills and maintains automated dispensing cabinets 
• Performs required audits 
• Assists in preparation for state and federal inspection
• Obtains and clarifies patient’s home medication list 
• Provides drug information to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel
• Reviews patient profiles for drug interactions
• Performs clinical interventions including dosage recommendations
• Assists in vaccinations Administers immunizations

Requirements: 

• Enrolled or recent graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Current pharmacy intern license in good standing with state Board of Pharmacy in applicable state (CT or NY)
• Preferred certifications as necessary for the practice setting and stage of pharmacy education (e.g. ACLS, BLS, &/or immunization)

Salary Range: $15.30 - $22.42 hourly
